State Compensation Insurance Fund Safety and Health Unit is looking to hire two Sr. Loss Prevention Consultants who are driven by a desire to do the right thing for our policyholders, for injured workers, and for each other. These positions will provide occupational safety and health services to our insured employers in the Bay Area. One position would be in the San Jose area and the other territory would ideally be in San Francisco / Mid-Peninsula, and potentially some East Bay.
This is a teleworking position which requires frequent travel to assigned accounts and mileage is reimbursed.
This position may be filled in Pleasanton, San Jose, or San Francisco.
We will consider under-filling at the Worker’s Compensation Insurance Representative level.
Under the supervision of the Loss Prevention Manager, you will:
• Provide safety services to policyholders with more complex and difficult risk conditions to reduce employee injury potential
• Conduct on-site visits on newly assigned accounts to evaluate workplace hazards and the safety and health competence of the policyholder
• Serve as a technical resource to other Loss Prevention Consultants as needed
• Document safety services internally and externally
Desired Qualification
We are seeking self-driven, people-oriented safety professionals with the following qualifications and skills:
• Ability to assess workplace injury/illness risk based on business operations to improve safety
• Adept at interpreting workplace safety regulations regarding workers’ compensation and occupational safety and health
• Ability to interpret charts, graphs and mechanical relationships
• Proficient at public presentations in order to train employees and employers
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
• Team player, self-motivated, and able work with minimal direct supervision
• Effective written and oral communication skills. This includes excellent report writing skills with a variety of report writing software
• Ability to document effectively, using non-technical terms and vocabulary that will be clearly understood by employers
• Bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus, but not required
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) and/or Associate in Risk Management (ARM)
Designations are a plus, but not required for this position
New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum salary of the classification or minimum of the alternate salary range when applicable. Placement to alternate salary range may be based on education or experience identified in your state application.
Relocation expenses will not be paid for by State Fund

Working Conditions
Telework may be available and is subject to change based on State Fund guidelines and business needs.
The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
Selected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.
