Construction Section Meeting

SPECIAL EVENT: At the end of this meeting we will have a special fundraising auction. The proceeds will go towards our Construction Section’s scholarship fund which benefits local area community college students who are obtaining a degree or certificate in the EHS field. Please bring an item to donate to our auction, with a preferred value of $20 and up. Your generosity, support, and participation is very appreciated by the Construction Section and the students who receive these scholarships. Guest Speaker: Lisa Baiocchi Cal/OSHA:  The Struggle is RealIt’s been a rough year for the Division, with a lack of leadership and a general unwillingness to cooperate.  We will discuss the year that has been, and what to expect in 2020, with regard to regulations, case law and, of course, war stories.

Lisa Baiocchi is a senior associate at Walter & Prince LLP, a Santa Rosa, California law firm that concentrates its practice in OSHA, crisis management, and “serious and willful misconduct” defense. She has been with the firm since 2012. A native of Sonoma County, she returned to California after attending law school out of state.

Lisa represents the firm’s clients in all aspects of Cal/OSHA and Fed/OSHA administrative process and defense, as well as amicus curiae briefs and “serious and willful misconduct” claims. She has also assisted employers with crisis response, improving and updating their safety programs, as well as with managing pre- and post-appeal abatement issues before Cal/OSHA.

A former professional ballerina, Lisa’s interest in the law was piqued in college when she realized that both law and dance require a similar depth of dedication and passion. When not working, Lisa enjoys running, yoga, gardening, hiking, and watching her children participate in soccer, track meets, and other activities. She also enjoys brewing beer and traveling.
