Each year the SF Chapter gives scholarships out to students studying in the Occupational Health & Safety Field. See the Fall 2018 scholarship recipients below. Congrats!
Tawnee Newton is the Fall 2018 recipient of the San Francisco Chapter’s $500 scholarship at Las Positas College. Pictured is Steve McConnell, Instructor/Student Affairs Committee presenting the scholarship to Tawnee on behalf of the San Francisco Chapter.
Tawnee is nearing completion of the Occupational Safety and Health degree at Las Positas College and was excited to be awarded the Chapter’s scholarship. She is looking forward to learning more about safety and health as she completes her Associates in Science degree. Tawnee aspires to a career as an Operator or Safety professional at a refinery following completion of her degree. She believes the knowledge gained from the Occupational Safety and Health program at Las Positas will help her succeed in any position she may have at a refinery. The courses have provided her a much better understanding of safety and health issues and what make safety and health programs successful.
On October 9th the SF Chapter hosted a Happy Hour Networking Event at District Cocktail & Wine Bar in Old Oakland.
We had a great turnout! Approximately 20 safety professionals showed up to network and hang out with other amazing safety professionals in the Bay Area.
Purpose: The professional development conference (PDC) volunteers ensures the delivery of a high-quality PDC assistance to chapter members. These volunteers primary responsibility rests with the specific activity assigned.
