Last week Amanda Shin (SF Chapter President), Jonathan Scruggs (SF Chapter President Elect), Allie Frazier (SF Chapter, Construction Section Chair), and Tiffany Barnett (SF Chapter, VP of Special Events) represented the San Francisco Chapter at the Region I Operating Committee in San Diego.
The Region I Operating Committee meets twice a year to discuss, share and update the committee on chapter news/updates. Region I is comprised of local chapters from California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii. It is a great opportunity to learn and share how other chapters are engaging their membership. Chapters are able to share ideas, and come back to their chapters with new and exciting ideas.
Our next ROC Meeting is scheduled in October 2019 and will be hosted by the Alaska Chapter in Anchorage, Alaska.
Last Thursday, March 7th was the 2019 Bay Area Symposium. We had our largest turnout yet. With over 400 safety professionals in attendance and over 40 vendors, we had a great event. A big thank you to everyone that was able to attend this year!

On Tuesday, February 12th the San Francisco Chapter hosted a private tour of the USS Hornet. The tour was led by resident docent Thomas Burnt who served in the United States Airforce. Thomas provided a historical background about the USS Hornet and focused on safety related items on the ship. He also discussed many of the challenges that the sailors faced while manning the ship. Below are some photos from our tour!
Thank you to those who made it out on the gloomy day, we hope to see you at our next event in April!
