Paul is the Founder and President of Safety Compliance Management that is located in San Ramon. Prior to founding SCM, Paul was in the fire service and worked in four different departments before he took an early retirement as a Chief to start SCM.

Paul’s education includes undergraduate degrees in Fire Science and Public Administration, a Master of Engineering degree with focus on Advanced Safety Engineering, and was recently awarded his Ph.D.. In his Ph.D. studies, he conducted research on The Value Proposition of the CSP certification and ran an analysis on the effectiveness of certification, education, and experience. His dissertation was recently published. He is also a CSP,CET, and CHST.

Paul is a disciple of the new research that is transforming the safety practice and his firm has a new division that focusses entirely on the new concepts of HOP, Safety Differently, Productive Safety, Safety II, or whatever we choose to call it. In the end, it is looking at things through a different lens and realizing that how we view employees makes all of the difference in the world. His talk tonight will explain why he thinks this and help us recognize how we can get the best benefit from using the newer concepts in our safety practice.
