WISE Section

We are pleased to announce that the SF Chapter has started a WISE section. For those of you that do not know, WISE stands for Women in Safety Excellence. WISE is a Common Interest Group that advances ASSP members and the safety profession through education, mentorship, networking, collaboration, research and innovation. If you haven’t already done so, please support and join the Women in Safety Excellence member community to connect with like-minded safety professionals and support the inclusion and advancement of women within the safety industry.

We’d like to formally introduce our new SF Chapter WISE section chair, Charity Nicolas. Here is a message from her below:

Hello,

My name is Charity Nicolas and I am honored and privileged to be your new WISE Chair.

I would like to a moment to introduce myself.  I am a first-generation Filipina immigrant, and the first of my family to attend college in the United States.  I have an undergraduate Bachelors degree in Biology from UC Berkeley, and a Masters degree in Public Health from the University of Hawaii.

I have a passion to protect people and our environment from harm, and have been working in Environmental, Health and Safety for over 28 years for government agencies and global Fortune 500 companies.  In my current role as a Principal Consultant for ERM, a global Environmental Consulting company, I am a project manager, technical subject matter expert, executive team leader, DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion) champion, and business development strategist.  I have been on the Boards of PASMA and ASSP.

I invite you to join our ASSP SF WISE community.  Our focus for WISE is to build a caring, engaged, and diverse community.  We also strive to build a strong network of female safety professionals to provide mentorship, support, and leadership to women in our profession.

Welcome to ASSP SF WISE, and we look forward to seeing you at future meetings!

Sincerely,

Charity Nicolas
