Safety Excellence Group places environmental, safety and health professionals into advanced-industry construction — semiconductor fabrication, data centers and first-of-kind manufacturing. We are growing in Northern California and looking for a consultant to support our Bay Area accounts and help us build that market.

The role

You are the senior S.E.G. professional on an assigned project and our point of contact for the client. You own the safety condition of the work: challenging pre-task plans before work begins, driving findings to verified closure, holding trade partners to the standard consistently, delivering training and coaching at the point of work, and carrying stop-work authority for imminent danger.
Our sites are construction, but rarely ordinary construction. Live utilities and chemical systems sit alongside active work, often next to production that cannot be interrupted. That raises the bar on planning, coordination and judgment.
It also raises the administrative bar. A Tier 1 general contractor carries a heavy documentation load — permits, plans, inspections, audit-ready records, client reporting — and this role carries it without being chased.
We are looking for a culture change agent, not an inspector. The standard gets met through credibility and evidence, not escalation. People go to work to build a better future for the people they love — not to lose it.

What we are looking for

• 5+ years construction safety experience, including demonstrated experience leading others — not merely being senior.
• Advanced-industries exposure: semiconductor, data center or other mission-critical environments with live utilities and chemical systems.
• Commercial construction breadth, including tilt-up wall operations. Owner’s-representative experience is a strong plus.
• CHST required. CSP accepted in place of CHST where you already hold a four-year degree. OSHA 30 and First Aid / CPR / AED current;
• OSHA 500 preferred.
• Working command of California Title 8, including the Injury and Illness Prevention Program and heat illness prevention.
• A degree is preferred, not required. Field credibility and the ability to lead people outweigh the credential, and both of our career tracks converge at this level.

The Pay range for this role is $81,900.00 – $128,700.00 Annual

This position will supervise, assign, review, and participate in the work of staff responsible for safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, and emergency action plan responses.  This role will also develop, implement, and administer programs, policies, and procedures, plan, organize, and direct the development of a wide variety of safety, and training programs, and ensures work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental engineering experience including two (2) years of lead or supervisory experience.

Licenses:

• Possession of a valid California Driver’s License. A valid out of state driver’s license will be accepted during the application process. Must possess a valid California Driver’s License within 90 days of appointment.

Job Summary

The Safety Specialist supports the Safety Manager and enforces the company safety program on behalf of each subsidiary of McGuire & Hester. Provides technical insight, analysis, investigations, and risk management for all jobsites by ensuring compliance with policies and procedures and state and federal safety regulations.

Typical Duties

• Promote McGuire & Hester safety program. Serves as a role model and champion for safety and safety compliance.

• Strives to attend daily Jobsite Huddles for all subsidiary companies in all geographical locations.

• Attends weekly safety department meeting.

• Perform jobsite safety inspections for all companies; completes accompanying paperwork and addresses existing and potential hazards with field management.

• Performs equipment and property inspections and reports any deviations back to Resource, if needed.

• Administers Safety Buck and Scratcher program at the field level and documents same.

• Use expertise to assist field management in pre-construction identification of safety issues and concerns and development of site-specific safety plans.

• Assist field management in creating and presenting hazard analysis for the daily huddle.

• Conduct jobsite safety meetings; discuss job specific safety issues with field management.

• Audit jobsite and employee compliance with company, state and federal policies and procedures.

• Assists Marketing Department by being a jobsite conduit for pictures, positive recognitions, and marketing suggestions.

• Assisted in field management in effective presentation of weekly tailgate and bi- yearly Safety Meetings.

• Conduct accident and injury investigations.

• Assist as directed, with employee training.

• Administer post-incident drug testing as needed.

• Maintain and enhance personal training levels.

• Assist Safety Manager and Risk Manager, as needed.

Computer Skills: must have strong computer skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and train others to use company technology
